Bloomberg TV anchor Adam Johnson had his BitCoin gift certificate information stolen, while live on air. This happened after flashing the gift certification on the screen long enough for viewers to scan the digital QR code.
A Reddit user claimed responsibility and outlined how simple it was to steal the gift, on the online forum. The user, ‘milywaymasta’ said it was only worth $20, and will return the gift once the news anchor creates a new address. The breach is part of a larger problem with BitCoin, with $100 million in the currency stolen earlier this year. These Bitcoins were stolen from “Sheep Marketplace,” an illegal online drug sales website.
The Reddit user said his only intent was to expose the necessary precautions that must be taken when using digital currency.
